Services

Every Wednesday and Sunday, and on all religious holidays services are being held. There are many different kinds of services in church, like Sunday mass, Sunday Service, family service, weekly mass and a few more.

Everytime there are a number of items that are part of the service. They are always the blessing, the sermon, the prayers of intercession, readings from the Bible, the Lord's prayer, the creed and the message (i.e. the priest tells the congregation what will happen in the upcoming week), and as a finale the cantor will play a postlude.

If mass is held some more items are added, e.g. Agnus Dei, confession and of course the Lord's supper, which means that you can receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ in the form of a wafer and some wine.

Sometimes one can see an asterisk in the agendas, like before the word *Creed. It means that you are expected to stand up.

What staff is then required to make the service or mass as good as possible? The first person to think of is perhaps the priest. But there are of course other people involved, like churchwardens, a cantor, and a church caretaker. Afterwards, in most cases, church coffee is served, and someone has prepared it. All this taken together indicates quite a big organization that makes sure that everything works.
